We pursue excellence in teaching & learning and encourage participation in a range of opportunities beyond the classroom.
The Coding Club is a very active club in BCS and is coordinated by Ms. Quinn. Students undertake a number of modules in Scratch throughout the year and learn the basics of HTML & CSS. The club meets once a week after school.
This was a special year for the club as Shane Farrelly, a member for the past three years, was announced as the overall winner of the Multimedia Farm Safety Competition for Post Primary Schools at the Awards Ceremony in Dublin Castle on Wednesday April 27th 2016. Shane programmed a computer game using different coding languages . It’s a maze game where you play as a farmer being led by Captain Safety through his farm avoiding all of the dangers, to get back home. There are six levels which increase in difficulty as you progress, due to the addition of new dangers at every level. Shane’s aim was to raise awareness of safety on the farm and to effect change in the safety behaviour on family farms and in the wider farming community.
