PARENTS OF THIRD YEAR STUDENTS:REVISED ARRANGEMENTS JUNIOR CYCLE 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian of a Junior Cycle Student,

The Minister of Education announced this afternoon revised arrangements for this year’s junior cycle.

For the moment, it is important that you are aware of three things:

  1. Your son/daughter’s learning achievements in every subject will be assessed by his/her teacher before the 29th May 2020. Details of what will be included in this assessment and how it will be planned will issue to you and your son/daughter shortly.
  2. You will receive a report from Bailieborough Community School which will set out your son/daughter’s learning achievements in Junior Cycle.
  3. Your son/daughter will also receive a state certificate of completion of Junior Cycle from the Department of Education and Skills.

Your son/daughter has worked hard over the past three years. During this time he/she completed many assignments, tests, projects, practical work, classroom based assessments, Christmas/Summer/Mock examinations. Your son/daughter has also engaged with online learning and teaching to the best of his/her ability since March 12th 2020. All of this will be acknowledged in addition to any upcoming end of third year assessment.

Perhaps your son/daughter lost some motivation recently with all the uncertainty out there but over the next four weeks we really need them to refocus and reconnect with each of their subject teachers.

This will provide them with even greater evidence of their learning and further guide teachers’ entries onto their school based report.

Thank you for your continued support during this time.

Mr Kenny and Ms Lievens
