Condolences on the passing of Sister Pius Madden

“Thou art my lamp and the Lord will light my darkness…”  Nano Nagle

Sister Pius in the presence of Bishop Leo O’Reilly at the 30th anniversary of Bailieborough Community School on Sunday 18th November 2012.

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Sister Pius Madden.

She was a cherished Presentation Sister who formed an intrinsic part of Bailieborough Community School’s history. The Presentation Sisters left Bailieborough in 2009 after a presence of 75 years.

Sister Pius passed away on Saturday 13th February 2021 after a short illness borne with dignity and bravery.

She worked as a Principal and Director of Schools in Pakistan for almost four decades, bringing hope and education into the lives of many girls.

She joined the staff of Maynooth Post-Primary School ten years ago where she was a valued member of the pastoral care team.

There is no doubt that Sister Pius walked very closely in the footsteps of Nano Nagle, the founder of the Presentation Sisters, throughout her life’s journey.

May we remember Sister Pius with fondness and gratitude.

May our school carry on her legacy and continue to grow as a truly Christian community.
